AIR
i adorn myself in blossoms
blushed cloth rippling across my legs like
misted waves upon a moss-slicked cliff
painted with petals
flecked with pollen
tinted with tendrils of a lychee moonrise
cottonball sakura pressed into the folds of my skirt
my lover
lifts me by the waist,
their red hair singing like wildflowers in a steamy July rainstorm
and together we
twirl dance scream
our song from the rooftops for all to hear
sworls of fabric and frizzy hair float
earrings ringing
buoyed by bubbling laughter and constellation grins
the breeze catches me and i melt into the velvet night
draw asteroid rings around
buildings pockmarked with yellow light
in between the spokes of bridges
trace the paths of streetlamps from the air
joy
blooms escapes tags me
i keep chasing it
riding tunnels of windcurrents
collecting stars and dandelion seeds as i go
A Short Bio:
Anthos (he/him) has been writing short stories ever since he could read. He discovered poetry thanks to his freshman English teacher. Much of Anthos's writing focuses on joy, belonging, mental illness, and his experiences as a queer person and Third Culture Kid (TCK). Anthos started off writing for myself, but now his hope is that his writing is able to help others.
